  • Open to Undergraduate Commerce (UBCV), Management (UBCO), and Arts (UBCV) Arts & Science (UBCO) students only

When applying to Go Global:

  • Commerce students (UBCV): select 'Singapore Management University-COMM' 
  • All other students: select 'Singapore Management University-Uniwide'

  • UBC Term 1 (SMU Fall term): Early August to Mid December
  • UBC Term 2 (SMU Spring term): Early January to Early June

Course availability and restrictions

  • Most courses  are available to exchange students, subject to vacancy
  • Exchange students should note that certain elective courses have pre-requisites 
  • A list of courses open to exchange students will be sent via email 6-8 weeks prior to start of online course registration - students may only select courses from the course list (please DO NOT choose from the courses listed on the SMU website or any other sources)
  • To view course descriptions, see Course Catalogue / Class Search (select the term you are searching for and "Courses with sections offered")
  • When selecting courses, ensure that they are available in the semester for which you are applying

Course equivalency Formula

  • 1 Unit (1 course) = 3 UBC credits 

Course load Information

  • Average course load = 4 full-credit courses
  • Minimum course load = 2 credits
  • Maximum course load = 5 full-credit courses

Transfer credit

The transfer credit process takes approximately 16 weeks following each submission deadline. You should allow sufficient time to meet important deadlines that may affect you (e.g. application for graduation, registration in courses that require prerequisites that you took on exchange, entry to a major/honours program, etc.)

Finances and funding

While you’re learning abroad, you remain a UBC student and are eligible for UBC awards, scholarships, and financial assistance.

All students are automatically considered to receive either the Go Global Award ($1000) or Go Global Scholarship ($1500) for each term that they are abroad.
