About Global Ambassadors
Global Ambassadors are students who have participated in Go Global programs before (Exchange, Global Seminars, Summer Abroad, Research Abroad, etc.) and are keen to share their knowledge and experience with other UBC students. The goal is to help the next wave of students going abroad and better prepare them for their experiences.
Position details
- Start Date: Late August 2024
- End Date: Late April 2024
- Time Commitment: approx. 2 hours/week
- Position Type: Volunteer
- Approximately 7-9 positions available
Responsibilities & duties
- Prepare prospective students for their Go Global experience (supporting Go Global)
- Create campus awareness about Go Global programs by hosting booths, information sessions, and presentations at department, faculty and campus-wide events
- Support Go Global during Pre-Departure sessions by participating in the panel discussion
- Provide support for students during application drop-in sessions
- Co-facilitate and lead Go Global information sessions
- Create a post sharing your international learning experience that will be featured on Go Global’s website and/or Instagram
- Support students on the Go Global UBC Discord server by interacting with them in conversations and answering general questions related to your exchange experience
- Facilitate campus tours for partner visits as needed
Who can apply?
- Current UBC Vancouver campus students who will be at UBC during the 2024-2025 academic year
- Students who have participated in a Go Global program (e.g., Exchange, Summer Abroad, Research Abroad, Global Seminar, etc.).
Preferred skills/qualities
- Interest in developing leadership and facilitation skills
- A willingness to share your knowledge and experiences to benefit other students
- A vested interest in international learning and student experience
- Ability to communicate openly and effectively with a diverse range of students
- Strong initiative to think of new activities, events, and ideas
- Reliable and dependable
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate with a small group of peers
- Ability to effectively provide and receive feedback
