- One Semester Exchange:
- Semester 1: Beginning of April to end of August
- Semester 2: Beginning of October to end of February
- Full Year Exchange:
- Semester 1: End of September to mid-February
- Semester 2: Beginning of April to mid-August
*Please note that the designation of "first" and "second" semesters for the full-year program are different from the one semester program

Course equivalency Formula
- 2 HU credits = 1.5 UBC credits
Transfer credit
The transfer credit process takes approximately 16 weeks following each submission deadline. You should allow sufficient time to meet important deadlines that may affect you (e.g. application for graduation, registration in courses that require prerequisites that you took on exchange, entry to a major/honours program, etc.)

- Japanese: some English courses
- Japanese language proficiency required if you are not participating in the Hokkaido University Short-Term Exchange Program (HUSTEP)
- HUSTEP is available as a single term or full year program
- This program is intended for students with a low level of Japanese
- If you are interested in studying in Japanese, please note the that JLCSP program is only available as a full year option
- You must be proficient in Japanese to participate in the JLCSP program
