Who can go?

  • Exchange students are admitted to the Center for Japanese language and Culture and study according to the curriculum offered by the Center
  • Students who earn excellent placement scores on their "Japanese Placement Test" can attend lectures in the regular undergraduate and graduate programs
  • CJLC Program for Exchange Students ("Nichibun" Program): specifically for exchange students from foreign institutions that have a student exchange agreement with Doshisha University, in order to develop the Japanese language skills of the international Exchange Students and to deepen their understanding of Japanese culture

Course equivalency Formula

  • 18 Doshisha Credits = 15 UBC Credits

Course load Information

  • Exchange students tend to take between 17-19 credits
  • Courses are either 1 or 2 credits, therefore students will have to take a combination up to a maximum of 20 credits

Transfer credit

The transfer credit process takes approximately 16 weeks following each submission deadline. You should allow sufficient time to meet important deadlines that may affect you (e.g. application for graduation, registration in courses that require prerequisites that you took on exchange, entry to a major/honours program, etc.)
