Instructions
- Complete the online application. After you are nominated by Tec de Monterrey, our system will send you an email prompting you to log in to the Student Application Portal and submit your online application. After submitting, you will receive a confirmation email with your UBC student number. (Check your junk/spam folder for our email!) You will need this number for all steps in the application process, and during your time at UBC.
- Submit your application documents. Prepare and provide supporting application documents (see section "Application Documents Checklist,” below). Make sure that your International Programs office submits all required documents to UBC that correspond to the round you’re applying to by the deadline (Round 1: April 1; Round 2: September 15)
- Accept your offer. Once Go Global has reviewed your application documents and you’ve been accepted, you will receive a link to accept your offer. Make sure to accept your offer once you open the link because it expires.
- Create a Campus-Wide Login (CWL) account. Follow the instructions under "Student Accounts (CWL Account Upgrader)" to create a UBC CWL account. The CWL system provides access to many of the university’s online systems.
Complete the online housing application. All students in the Tec-UBC Joint Academic Program are guaranteed on-campus housing, but space is in high demand and students must apply by May 1 for a September start or by Oct. 1 for a January start. Rank your residence choices on the application. While UBC makes an effort to place you in the residence of your choice, placement is based on availability.
- Go to the Student Housing and Community Services Online Service Centre and log in under “UBC New Applicants, Students, Staff with CWL ID.”
- Log in with SecureLink.
- Select “Student, Applicant, External Student Portal” to request your SecureLink.
- Select “Application” and then “Apply.”
- Select the application for the year/session you are coming to UBC: e.g., 2025/2026 Winter Session (25W). (Note: Select this option regardless of your study term. We will inform the housing office whether you are coming for one or two terms because there is no place for you to indicate this on the application.)
- Under "faculty," enter “Go Global Program, year 1.”
- There is a $50 non-refundable application fee. Pay your deposit via Visa or MasterCard only.
- If you have questions about your application and payment, contact UBC housing directly.
- Accept the housing offer and pay the housing deposit by the deadline. The UBC Housing office will send an offer to you by email. The housing deposit (about $1,000 for shared units and $1,200 for studios) must be paid by Visa or MasterCard.
- Register with UBC’s Centre for Accessibility, if applicable. Students with disabilities and ongoing medical conditions must register with UBC’s Centre for Accessibility. We strongly recommend beginning this process at the same time as your application.
Application documents
It is your responsibility to prepare and provide these documents to your International Programs office. Tec will submit them to Go Global on your behalf by uploading them to the nomination platform before the application due date. Please check our key dates page for deadlines.
Checklist:
- Current official academic transcript
- Official translation of academic transcript if the original transcript is not in English.
- Proof of English proficiency: TOEFL score or equivalent
- Passport copy (biographical page only)
- Your UBC Tec Joint Academic program proposed course list. This list will not be used for registration, only for admission purposes.
- Additional supporting documents as needed for students planning to take courses in certain faculties or disciplines at UBC, such as courses in visual arts or music.
Study Permits and Provincial Attestation Letters
For full-year and split-year students only: Wait to obtain a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL). This document is used for initial study permit applications from outside Canada. Within two (2) weeks of students accepting their admission offer in the Applicant Service Centre, the PAL will be emailed directly to students. More information about the PAL and other documents required for study permit applications can be found here.
NOTE: Because of the limited number of PALs available, students will only receive one (1) PAL. You MUST ensure all information is correct prior to accepting your admission offer. We are unable to re-issue PALs due to incorrectly submitted information (e.g. wrong birthdate, misspelled name, incorrect address, etc.). If you do not require a PAL, notify Go Global within five (5) business days of the email notification about your admission. Should you have any questions about the PAL process, contact Go Global. For questions pertaining to study permit applications, please contact International Student Advising.
