Who can go?

  • Students must have a minimum 73% GPA to attend this partnership
  • However, students with a GPA between 70-73% will be considered if they are able to provide a written recommendation from a professor

Course availability and restrictions

  • Most courses are weighted at 15 points, so students will be taking 4 courses per semester
  • Law exchange students can only take courses in the Law faculty
  • Postgraduate applicants: exchange is limited to coursework only and does not include thesis writing and supervision
  • When selecting courses, ensure that they are available in the semester for which you are applying

  • Auckland units divided by 4 = UBC Credits

Course load Information

  • Standard course load for full-time study: 50-60 points per semester or 100-120 points per year
  • Minimum full time study load is 50 points per semester, or 100 points per year
  • Exchange students must take a full-time course of study

Transfer credit

The transfer credit process takes approximately 16 weeks following each submission deadline. You should allow sufficient time to meet important deadlines that may affect you (e.g. application for graduation, registration in courses that require prerequisites that you took on exchange, entry to a major/honours program, etc.)

Finances and funding

While you’re learning abroad, you remain a UBC student and are eligible for UBC awards, scholarships, and financial assistance.
