Who can go?
- Students must have a minimum 72% cumulative academic average and be entering 3rd year or above to be eligible
- All applicants must meet Go Global eligibility requirements
- Limited space for exchange (pay tuition to UBC) pathway at UPF, students have the option to attend on a Study Abroad basis, paying tuition to UPF (fees are outlined on their website).
- Commerce students may not select the study abroad option.

*Students matched to UPF may shorten term 2 exchange to only the Winter term (January - March), please contact Go Global advisor to select the Winter term only option prior to September.

Course availability and restrictions
- Students with a fluent level of Spanish can take regular courses offered by the university
- For more information about accessing regular courses taught in Spanish or Catalan, click here
- Please note the ECTS credit load for regular Spanish courses courses is different than the ECTS credit load for the HESP program
- Courses in Communication, Audiovisual Communication, Journalism and Economics are also offered to Exchange students at this institution
Course equivalency Formula
- ECTS credits divided by 2 = UBC credits
Transfer credit
The transfer credit process takes approximately 16 weeks following each submission deadline. You should allow sufficient time to meet important deadlines that may affect you (e.g. application for graduation, registration in courses that require prerequisites that you took on exchange, entry to a major/honours program, etc.)

Additional note for language of instruction
- Classes can also be taken in Catalan
- Students should be able to take notes and participate in classroom activities on a par with Spanish nationals (To determine your level, please self-assess with: European Language Portfolio Global Scale)
- UPF offers some regular academic courses in English and a Spanish Language and Culture Program (HESP)
- No previous knowledge of Spanish is required for these options

Awards & Scholarships
