Who can go?

  • Only Commerce (UBCV) students are eligible to apply to this partner university. Coursework will be done in the Master Level I program. As of Fall 2025, this partnership is open to both third and fourth year Commerce students. 
  • Students with French education background, French degree, and / or with French nationality are not eligible to go on exchange to HEC.

  • UBC Term 1 (HEC semester 1): Mid September to Late December
  • UBC Term 2 (HEC semester 2): Late February to Late June

Course availability and restrictions

  • Seminars and discussions are often based on case studies
  • Class attendance is mandatory
  • Active class participation is usually part of each student's final grade
  • Grading: Participation, oral and written presentations, case analyses and exams
  • Class Size: 25 to 40 students per class
  • Course Load: 250 hours of class contact divided into several different courses depending on the chosen specialization
  • Final examinations take place at the end of each course

  • 24 ECTS minimum per semester
  • 30 ECTS maximum per semester

Transfer credit

The transfer credit process takes approximately 16 weeks following each submission deadline. You should allow sufficient time to meet important deadlines that may affect you (e.g. application for graduation, registration in courses that require prerequisites that you took on exchange, entry to a major/honours program, etc.)
