Term dates

  • UBC Term 1 (Wurzburg Winter semester): early October - late March (lectures end early February)
  • UBC Term 2 (Wurzburg Summer semester): early April to late September (lectures end mid-July)

*There is no official examination period and exams might take place during the semester break. Students should inquire about this before booking return flights
*In term 2, lectures end in July and students may be able to complete exams in time to return to UBC in Term 1

Course equivalency Formula

  • ECTS credits divided by 2 = UBC credits

Course load Information

  • 30 ECTS per term is equivalent to 15 credits at UBC per term

Transfer credit

The transfer credit process takes approximately 16 weeks following each submission deadline. You should allow sufficient time to meet important deadlines that may affect you (e.g. application for graduation, registration in courses that require prerequisites that you took on exchange, entry to a major/honours program, etc.)

Additional note for language of instruction

  • The majority of classes are held in German
  • As an exchange student, you should have sufficient language skills to follow the courses
  • No specific level of proficiency in German required for most subjects (exceptions below):
    • If students wish to earn ECTS credits in Würzburg, they should be able to demonstrate a B1-level (except courses at the Language Center)
    • Specific German language skills for some subjects: German Philology (NOT german courses at the Language Center): B1; Medicine: B2; Media Communication: B1; Pharmacy and Biology: A2 in German or B1 in English
