Course availability and restrictions
- Students can select from a wide range of courses
- As much flexibility as possible is recommended though
- Students who are very restricted in their course selection need to inform us as early as possible
- Availability of specific courses are not guaranteed
- Three levels of courses: 1xxx – 3xxx courses = Undergraduate courses
- These are usually available to exchange students, except for restricted areas
- Some disciplines will need to be approved by the school or faculty
- Most undergraduate degrees at the University of Adelaide are of 3 years duration
- Most engineering degrees are 4 years
- 4xxx courses = Honours (not available for exchange students)
- Faculty of Engineering, Computer & Mathematical Sciences 5xxx – 7xxx courses = Postgraduate courses
- These are only available to exchange students who have completed an undergraduate degree (or equivalent)
- For example course COMMGMT 1001 – Introduction to Management 1 is a first year course as the course code starts with 1xxx.
- A list of unavailable and restricted courses can be found on Adelaide's website
Course equivalency Formula
- Adelaide units x 5/4 = UBC credits
Course load Information
- A standard full-time workload comprises 12 units (4 courses 100%)
- Students can elect to take 9 units per semester (3 courses 75%) and will still be considered as participating in full-time study
- Full time study is a visa requirement and this is between 9 units (minimum) and 12 units (Maximum)
- Courses offered are normally 3 units each
Transfer credit
The transfer credit process takes approximately 16 weeks following each submission deadline. You should allow sufficient time to meet important deadlines that may affect you (e.g. application for graduation, registration in courses that require prerequisites that you took on exchange, entry to a major/honours program, etc.)
