Course availability and restrictions
- Students are required to take between 9 and 14 credit points per semester
- Recommended load is 12 credit points
- Most units are valued at either 3 or 4 credit points = approximately 12-16 hours of study per unit per week, including class attendance, private study, library research, etc.
- When selecting courses, ensure that they are available in the semester for which you are applying
- Units by level of study Undergraduate level = 1000, 2000 and 3000 level, Postgraduate level = 6000, 8000 and 9000 level

Transfer credit
The transfer credit process takes approximately 16 weeks following each submission deadline. You should allow sufficient time to meet important deadlines that may affect you (e.g. application for graduation, registration in courses that require prerequisites that you took on exchange, entry to a major/honours program, etc.)

ENHANCE YOUR STUDY EXPERIENCE
As an exchange student, you’ll have the opportunity to join Macquarie’s GLP. The GLP will provide unique opportunities to enhance your study experience by developing important leadership and intercultural skills. You will develop new friendships and grow your networks while becoming part of the Macquarie campus community.
YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:
- easily complete the program over one, or two semesters
- choose four workshops (Colloquia) from a variety of topics
- attend free GLP keynote speaker events where you’ll hear from senior diplomats, innovators, and leaders
OPTIONAL EXTRAS INCLUDE:
- day trips to multicultural areas of Sydney
- a four-day conference held in Canberra (Domestic Symposium) There is no cost to join or complete the GLP, and there are no assessments or academic entry requirements. Students who complete the program requirements receive a certificate, GLP transcript and reference letter. Please note, that some optional activities may incur a subsided cost and require a competitive application. To join the GLP, register for a Welcome Session via thrive.mq.edu.au and log in using your One ID and password.
