Overview

Go Global has a limited number of spaces for students wishing to study commerce at UBC. Students from universities with commerce-specific exchange agreements can check with their universities for information on available exchange spaces at UBC.

Undergraduate program structure

  • Year one
    Consists of calculus, micro- and macroeconomics, and business fundamentals.
  • Year two
    Consists of a pre-set group of second-year commerce courses.
  • Year three
    Consists of a pre-set group of third-year commerce courses and specialization courses.
  • Year four
    Students further their commerce and specialization studies

Course enrolment

  • Students nominated by their home university and admitted to exchange at UBC Sauder are allowed a maximum of 12 credits of commerce courses (COMM/COHR/COMR) per term. Additional credits may be considered if space is available.

  • Students not on exchange with UBC Sauder may request to take commerce courses but enrolment is limited and is not guaranteed.
  • Many courses have additional prerequisites that must be met prior to course enrolment. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that these prerequisites are met. Students will not be permitted to take a course and its prerequisite(s) in the same term.
  • Courses at the graduate level (500- and 600-level) are not available.
  • COMM_V 101, 105, 196, 202, 271, 396, 466, 483, co-operative work placements (COMM_V 380, 381, 480, and 481), and dual degree courses (COMM_V 120, 126, 220, 320, 321, 420, and 421) are not available.
  • BUSI_V and COEC_V courses are not available.
  • Enrolment in second-year courses (200-level) may be limited.
  • The following courses for non-commerce majors are also available to commerce majors: COMR_V 100, 329, 398, 457, 458, 465, 473, and 493.
  • Many commerce courses are in high demand. Students may be refused enrolment due to capacity limitations.
  • Economics is within the Faculty of Arts. Due to limited capacity, access to Economics courses is not guaranteed.
