- UBC Term 1 (Leeds Semester 1): Late September to Mid January
- UBC Term 2 (Leeds Semester 2): Late January to Mid June
* Term 1 students who plan to return to UBC for term 2 can apply to do their exams at UBC. Students will also need the approval of their home university and will also need to check the assessment for each of their modules, which can be taken remotely by checking with the relevant teaching schools. There is a £50 administration fee (total fee, not per exam) paid to Leeds for this service. Further information on how and when to apply to take January examinations overseas can be found on the Taking Assessments Abroad webpage.
Areas of study available:
- Commerce (UBCV)
Course availability and restrictions
- Students can take courses across nine faculties at Leeds
- Students can check which modules are open to visiting Exchange students on the module catalogue by selecting the “Search by incoming Study Abroad”
Course equivalency Formula
- 4 credits = 1 UBC credit
Course load Information
- 60 credits per semester/120 credits for the full academic year
- Students may take 50 credits per semester and still be considered to be a full-time student, but must have this agreed with their home university, and be sure that this does not affect their visa status
Transfer credit
The transfer credit process takes approximately 16 weeks following each submission deadline. You should allow sufficient time to meet important deadlines that may affect you (e.g. application for graduation, registration in courses that require prerequisites that you took on exchange, entry to a major/honours program, etc.)
Other opportunities at this partner
British Universities Transnational Exchange Association (BUTEX)
Each year BUTEX awards a number of £500 scholarships to students studying abroad for a single semester or full academic year. The University of Leeds is a BUTEX member so incoming study abroad students applying to Leeds can submit a scholarship application.
BUTEX scholarships are awarded based on a calendar year and not an academic year. This means that students who are completing a full year of exchange that takes place across two calendar years will have two opportunities to apply, but each student can only win a BUTEX scholarship once.
