Academic planning
Term dates
- UBC Term 1 (Bristol Semester 1): Early September to mid-December
- UBC Term 2 (Bristol Semester 2): Early January to late May
Areas of study available:
- Arts
- Engineering
- Land and Food Systems
- Management (UBCO)
- Science
Course availability and restrictions
- Courses in Arts and Social Sciences are in high demand and exchange students will have to be flexible with their course selections in these areas
- Computer Science limited
- When selecting courses, ensure that they are available in the semester for which you are applying
- If nominated to Bristol, they will request that students provide a provisional study plan so they can confirm students' courses prior to arrival
- Psychology at Bristol is taught as an experimental science rather than a social science. Students taking Psychology units are generally required to have a strong background in Chemistry, Biology and Neuroscience. Please note that the School of Psychological Science recommends that students only undertake one 3rd year unit per semester. If students are able to come to Bristol for the full academic year this would give them a wider range of unit choices as the school does not offer a large number of 2nd or 3rd year units in each semester.
Course equivalency Formula
- Bristol credit points divided by 4 = UBC credits
Course load Information
- A full course load consists of 60 Bristol credits per semester or 120 Bristol credits per year
Transfer credit
The transfer credit process takes approximately 16 weeks following each submission deadline. You should allow sufficient time to meet important deadlines that may affect you (e.g. application for graduation, registration in courses that require prerequisites that you took on exchange, entry to a major/honours program, etc.)
