About the program

Girton College at the University of Cambridge gives students in the fields of business, economics and politics, or engineering an extraordinary opportunity to experience Cambridge student life in the context of a program specifically designed for high-achieving students. Students will spend four intensive weeks in respective programme areas while participating in an organized social program that includes activities such as evening talks to introduce the history of Cambridge, traditional English afternoon tea, and a day trip to London.

  • You must be at least 18 years old (by the program start date) to participate in this program
  • You must have a cumulative average of 3.2/4.0 (~78%) to participate in this program

Course equivalency formula

  • 2 ECTS credits = 1 UBC credit

Course load information

  • Each program is approximately 45 hours of contact time. Expect to earn 10 ECTS credits (per program) upon successful completion
    • Business Programme: take a course comprising of three modules covering business leadership, business strategy and responsible investing.
    • Economics Programme: take a course entitled A Global History of Contending Economic Thoughts and Paradigms, comprising three parts covering macroeconomics, microeconomics, and economic and political thought
    • Engineering Programme: take a course comprising three modules covering jet engines, quantum technologies and nanotechnology

Transfer credit

The Vancouver School of Economics will not award Econ credits for any courses taken at ​​​the University of Cambridge Girton College. UBCV students taking Econ courses will be awarded general Arts credits. Please consult your Academic Advisor if you are planning to take or transfer Econ courses from your summer experience.
